Vpaint turn an object into the characteristics of two objects, I draw became a terrorist structure, also it is my most looking forward to, because the three objects can be inbetween any connection, will be very flexible, if vpaint completed, even if there is no special effects, vpaint can still help individuals animation film effect. Mr Boris! Personally, I think, as a result of the existence of face contains vertices and edges, will face a face into two would be a great challenge for you, if the previous key frames is vertex or edge, rather than face, and then implement faces for inbetween choice is more trouble. But anyway, if can arbitrarily connected the three objects, and in the course of time into two or more than two, The rest of the 2 d animation software will be eclipsed by (when they haven't use vpaint code)

Mesh deformation, also support pixel figure deformation, I see opentoonz and moho12 demo, but I don't know this function in vpaint will be redundant

Yes, useful feature. This lies in the group of "rigging" features, like skeletons. Since the workflow that I want to promote for VPaint is "rig-free" (as close as possible to hand-drawn traditional 2D animation), implementing this is low priority. But of course, different tools may be more appropriate for different use cases, so it would be nice to also have this eventually in VPaint.

Are you very busy now, so I don't hope you give yourself too much pressure, I more hope you can focus on half completed rewritten, no matter how long, it is worth the wait, do not need to release often many version, then you will feel tired. Hope you all well! Sincere greetings! ;)

Thank you so much for the encouragement! Yes, I happen to be very busy at the moment. Besides my full-time job, I am still finishing to write my PhD thesis, which consumes all my spare time :-/ I expected to be done by now, but I'm not...

About vector, in the method of gradient color, it seems only three ways!

Radial gradient, linear gradient and grid gradient, with his own painted face, to change the display parameters (shadow layer displayed in the graphics area of external or internal, degree of fuzzy shadow layer) to be more efficiency and perfect, although grid gradient is a useful function, but at least in that way than its efficiency, and can achieve the same effect.At least the direction of the gradient and shape will not be limited :D

Thank you for the idea! Yes, in the long term I would like to experiment with more advanced texturing methods than the traditional linear/radial/mesh gradient. For instance, there is this method that was developed by Disney Research a few year ago, that is worth exploring:
